Description

My subject theme was “Chance” and that is because throughout the piece, you will notice names of numerous different individuals, some are actually the same throughout different panels, while others, are alone in the sense of just fitting one category.  The three panels are all made of chance-like situations, in which one single moment in time, has locked them into one, or more, of these panels.  The first panel, with the silhouette of the gun, are Medal of Honor recipients.  The second panel, with the filled in cross, are Venerable, Saint and Blessed individuals based upon the Catholic process of sainthood. The third panel, with silhouette of the coin, are Nobel Prize winners.  Overall, of these three categories, they all fall upon the “chance” of an event happening, that turns their individual names, into something much greater.  I used these three silhouette-like objects to help interpret what the categories might be to the viewer, but left out key details in order to make the viewer interpret them as they see fit, until they are able to learn more of the three pieces, in which, then, would be able to connect to the pieces.  Now, onto the key element that puts one piece apart from the rest.  That is of the Venerable, Saints and Blessed that encompass the cross.  This is a category, that unlike the other two, I find to be less upon chance and more upon selection.  As you notice on the other two, the words surround the key silhouette, as they are part of the bigger picture that helps the whole world around their goal.  The cross, though, is encompassing all these names, as I feel it is the goal to make the religion greater, rather than use these entitlements to help the world around them.  This could be greatly contended, and as such, I leave the opinion to the viewer to interpret the pieces as they see fit.  My final note, on the temperament and environment of the piece, as you will see they are greatly sized, is that of celebration of all the great things individuals around the world can do for the good of humanity, and as such, these pieces are a celebration of these achievements.
